Well, I walked across the street yesterday, (Seams to Fit Home was beckoning), and I came across these two stunning sailboat original photos by world famous sailing photographer Frank Beken straight from Cowes on the Isle of Wight in England. Dated from 1895, the two framed pieces will entice any avid or passionate sailor, knowing they own a true piece of nautical history. Frank Beken moved to the port of Cowes where he lived on the waters at the International Sailing Regatta. His view of passing ships inspired his interest in photography, and within that, he designed and built a new style of camera in order to photograph the magnificent ships in their true glory. He sold his prints in his father’s pharmacy, where European royalty often visited. Since his death in 1970, Frank’s legacy has been maintained by his son, Keith, and his grandson, Kenneth, and The Beken of Cowes Marine Photography Gallery is now popular with yachtsmen from all over the world.
