In 1988, Belgian-born Martin Margiela stepped out of the shadows of Jean Paul Gaultier and launched his own line and what followed was incredible success.  His focus has always solely been on his designs; he famously refuses to be photographed or walk the runway, allowing all the attention to remain on the clothes.  Even though he no longer designs directly, he has passed the torch to talented hands, carrying on his vision and spirit.  The Maison Martin Margiela line pushes the envelope with avant-garde pieces and an artistic sensibility, and his MM6 line is the perfect companion with incredibly streamlined, completely wearable, and oh-so-chic garments.
